In 1989, the first-ever DOMOTEX World of Flooring convention took place in Hanover, Germany. The event has grown massively in scale over the years, with the number of exhibitors, attendees, and locations continually expanding. After being in production for thirty years, DOMOTEX finally made landfall in the United States at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, and a handful of Palo Duro Hardwoods team members were there to see it all come together.
Considering our partner company, Lägler North America, and many of our other trusted industry manufacturers like Hearthwood, Stauf, W.D. Flooring, Graf Custom Hardwoods, Aacer, Loba-Wakol and the NWFA were either exhibiting or attending the show, we can definitely say that we were in good company.
At the Lägler North America booth, they were showing off the 50th anniversary HUMMEL® and the LED upgrade kit, the new FLIP® polycrystalline milling attachment, new scrabbers for the SINGLE, abrasives, and the IGEL milling drum for the HUMMEL. Being that Lägler North America was the only exhibitor doing live machine demos, there was plenty of activity at the booth with people seeing exactly what LÄGLER® machines are capable of doing or even trying it out for themselves.
Outside of the booth, there were a number of seminars and educational sessions relevant to the flooring scene. We attended “Design is a Journey: Designer Trend Panel & Discussion” hosted by Emily Morrow, whose product line is manufactured by American OEM, the same manufacturer of the amazing Hearthwood Flooring lines carried by Palo Duro. The session highlighted what inspires the designers in their careers, and tips about how to form partnerships with customers in order to break out of “homogenized design trends.”
Walking the show floor, it was amazing to see how much variety, technical ability, and passion is involved in our industry. There will be an album with more photos from the show posted on the Lägler North America Facebook page this week, so be sure to check it out to see more of the happenings at DOMOTEX USA 2019.
The second DOMOTEX USA is already on the books for February of next year, and we can’t wait to see how much it grows.
