Quartersawn Hacienda
Muscanell Millworks, located in Cortez, CO, is known for producing precisely-milled, long length solid flooring specially dried for the arid climate. Species available are hickory, cherry, white oak, red oak, white ash, walnut, and more.
Muscanell’s quartersawn/riftsawn white oak is produced from lumber that is cut with the grain oriented at a 30-90 degree angle to the face of the plank. Not only does the quartersawing process produce an attractive appearance in the wood, but also results in improved durability, surface smoothness, and stability (it is about 50% more stable than plain-sawn white oak). Many planks appear with medullary rays or fleck.
Hacienda is Muscanell’s highest grade. It contains less color variation than other grades. Small mineral streaks are allowed. It is nearly knot-free, with only small pin knots (up to 3/16″ in diameter). No edge defect is accepted.
